Green Park AIDS Memorial

Landscapology is one of five artists and designers shortlisted for this project, following an open Expression of Interest that attracted over 70 submissions.

The memorial will be located in Green Park, in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, opposite St Vincent’s Hospital, the pioneering centre for HIV/AIDS treatment, patient care and ongoing research.

Landscapology’s submission was inspired by the closing lines from Marie Howe’s poem What the Living Do, dedicated to her younger brother who died from AIDS.

The closing line reads: “I am living. I remember you.”

The proposed memorial takes the form of a garden, with lush vegetation and year-round flowering.

The outcome of the shortlisting process is expected to be announced in early 2021.
